Vintervarme Edition No. 01, 15 YO, 50%

The first in what surely is intended as an ongoing series, the Vintervarme (“winter warmth”) Edition No. 1, is a 15 year old Lowland single malt Scotch. Finished in a 1st fill ex-Oloroso barrique, and bottled at a warming 50 % ABV. Limited to 350 bottles.

The Vintervarme Edition No. 01 is available in Norway starting November 13 at NOK 1268 (20043401).

Nose: Warm and inviting with fudge, creamy vanilla and honey-glazed apples. Gently spiced, with white pepper and cinnamon. Evolving notes of buttered toast and toasted butt oak with time.

Taste: Full bodied, dry and warmly textured. Dried fruits mingle with herbal honey, white pepper, cinnamon, nutmeg and toasted oak.

Finish: Medium to long finish. Creamy and rich with enduring fruitiness. Ends on notes of cool mint and creamy caramel reminiscent of “Smørbukk” (Norwegian creamy and soft caramel candy).

Comment: Comforting warmth with festive sweetness.
