Vardberg Single Cask Tawny Port Pipe Cask Strength, 5 YO, 60.0%

This is a single cask release, fully matured in an ex-Tawny port pipe (cask #78), and it is release number four from Berentsens Distillery in Norway. 130 bottles from this cask are released at cask strength, while the rest of the 550 litre cask will be released at 48% ABV later this autumn.

Nose: Rich with a dark and earthy fruitiness. Demerara sugar, vanilla and rhubarb. With time also notes of raisins and other dried fruits.

Taste: Full bodied. Again rich and fruity, with that soft earthy touch. I get apples and sugary sweetness, then the dried fruits.

Finish: Medium long finish. It remains rich and creamy all the way. Chocolate and marzipan follow towards the end.

Comment: One for the long winter nights.
