This is only the second release ever from Torabhaig Distillery. They are located on the Isle of Skye, same as Talisker, and was established as late as 2017. The Torabhaig Allt Gleann has been matured in a combination of 1st fill ex-bourbon casks and refill ex-bourbon casks. The spirit that goes into this product was distilled in 2017 and 2018, and the Torabhaig Allt Gleann was bottled in July 2021.

Torabhaig is one of very few distilleries that provide info on the peat level both in the malt (77 ppm for this product) and in the bottled finished product (17 ppm).

The Torabhaig Allt Gleann is available to buy in Norway starting September 20 at NOK 795 (13564901).

Nose: Salty, bitter-ish, smoky chocolate. Some oakiness. Feels a bit young on the nose. Well integrated alcohol though. and it develops nicely as in rounding off the sharper edges, becoming more relaxed, sweet and agreeable.

Taste: Medium body. Very pleasant on the palate. A perfectly balanced fruity, sugary sweet wood smoke.

Finish: Medium long. The sweetness now takes on a more artificial flavour, and that’s the only issue I have with this whisky. Still fruity and smoky.

Comment: A very promising start!
