Thy Cask 44-2 - Beechwood smoked single malt whisky

Thy Cask 44-2 - Beechwood smoked single malt whisky, 6 YO, 56.5%

Another new release from Danish distillery Thy Whisky. This is one of three bottlings launched exclusively for the Thy Festival 2025. Made using beechwood smoked malted barley. Distilled January 2019, matured in a single 200L 2nd fill ex-Oloroso sherry cask, and bottled 2025. Limited to 215 bottles.

The Thy Cask 44-2 - Beechwood smoked single malt whisky is available direct from the distillery shop online at DKK 999.

Nose: Appealing wood smoke opens the show. Not heavily smoky but very rich. Beechwood smoked bacon. The smokiness is tempered by an equally rich fruitiness - dried fruits and fresh orchard fruits.

Taste: Full bodied. Mild notes of summer fruits then minty smokiness. Comes across as more smoky on the palate than the nose.

Finish: Medium to long finish. More smoke, more fruits and then added pepper. Green notes coming through. Cool menthol. Borderline minty in the end.

Comment: Summer bonfire.
