More English single malt whisky from The Lakes. Nothing is revealed about this release, other than the fact that they do label themselves as a “sherry-led single malt whisky”.

The Lakes The Whiskymaker's Editions Galáxia is available to buy direct from the distillery at GBP 185.

Nose: Almonds and rich caramel sauce. Hints of burnt caramel (in a very good way). Dried fruits and honey. These aromas come in waves. In the end whiffs of citrus and cereal.

Taste: Full bodied and very rich. Deep sweetness reminiscent of honey and dark chocolate, mixed with a deep fruitiness with notes of dried fruits like figs, dates and raisins being the most prominent. I would not be surprised if there was a significant element of PX sherry involved in the maturation here.

Finish: Medium to long finish. More of the juicy dried fruits, as well as honey and sugary sweetness. Dark chocolate, a hint of mint and mildly burnt caramel in the end.

Comment: Complex, intense and rewarding!
