Nostalgia from The Lakes:

“The Whiskymaker’s Editions is a series of one-off releases showcasing the sense of adventure of our whiskymaker.

Each Edition is an exceptional diversion from The Lakes sherry-led house style; an expression of creative freedom, the product of a playground where instinct, experience and inspiration roam free.”

The Lakes Nostalgia is available to buy direct from the distillery at GBP 105.

Nose: Stewed orchard fruits morphing into dried fruits with time. Warm oakiness and cinnamon. With time a softly oaky chocolate mousse.

Taste: Medium to full body. A little rough and rather feisty up front. Peppery spiciness, as well as fizzy notes of nutmeg and ginger. Dried fruits and hints of citrus. A whiff of orange marmalade and rowanberries.

Finish: Medium long finish. Calming down, but remains medium sweet. A lighter fruitiness now leaning more towards ripe orchard fruits than dried fruits. Add a hint of milk chocolate in the end.

Comment: Not sure what I’m supposed to be nostalgic about, but it is a good dram.
