Talisker The Wild Blue, NAS, 48.2%

This is a limited edition release from Talisker. The label states “Atlantic Coastal Wine Finish”, indicating the 16 month finish in red wine casks from South Africa’s coastal regions (source). The whisky is bottled in partnership with the Blue Marine Foundation.

The Talisker The Wild Blue will be available in Norway starting November 13 at NOK 1200 (19754301).

Nose: Mild and gently smoky with notes of red berries and orchard fruits. Cinnamon, black pepper and toasted oak emerge gradually, adding warmth and depth.

Taste: Full bodied and peppery. Rich layers of black pepper, driftwood bonfire smoke and a subtle maritime brininess create a balanced complexity.

Finish: Medium. Cool and composed, with fruity sweetness and a touch of mild pepper lingering softly.

Comment: Balanced smoke.
