Here is a Glen Ord from Scotch Malt Whisky Society (SMWS). The name of this release is a quote from a Robert Burns poem. Distilled 2007-08-07, matured in a single 1st fill ex-bourbon hogshead, and bottled 2020. Limited to 228 bottles.
Nose: Citrus, vanilla, apples and hints of soapbox. Softly oaky. Not a whole lot of development here.
Taste: Medium body and rather herbal in character. Much the same fruitiness as on the nose, but also green herbs and a mind bitterness. Softly oaky. Honey and eucalyptus.
Finish: Medium to short finish. Blows off all steam fairly quickly. It huffs and puffs and sheds a lot more green “stuff”, then it deflates.
Comment: Fair enough, but it does not really get the blood flowing.
