An independent bottling of Glenfarclas from Scotch Malt Whisky Society (SMWS). Distilled 2011-04-06, matured in a single 1st fill ex-bourbon barrel, and bottled 2019. Limited to 222 bottles.

Nose: Sweet barley and apples. Vanilla and cereal notes (check). With time stewed apples, as well as soft, tickling spices.

Taste: Rich and full bodied. A fine balance of orchard fruits and mixed, earthy spices. Cinnamon and creamy vanilla. Then a hot wave of citrus and oaky spices.

Finish: Medium long finish. More spices, not that much sweetness. Hints of oak. Nice afterburn - well not burn, more like simmering heat.

Comment: A feisty ‘farclas. Haven’t had many of those.
