Here’s an “old” Smögen that I have simply forgotten to review. Anyways, here it is. Distilled 2011-12-02, matured in a single 1st fill American oak bourbon barrel (cask #57/2011), then bottled January 2019,. Limited to 327 bottles.
Nose: Oh sweet, delicious, fluffy clouds of fruity, pine scented wood smoke! Soft toasted oak in the background. With time also deep fruity notes, and more delicious smokiness. Perhaps also some chocolate-y peatiness.
Taste: Big as the Chinese wall, big as the Hindenburg, big as the Titanic, big as that pimple you did not spot before joining the first video call of the day. Hot ashes, peppery soot, sweet wood smoke, toasted oak, slightly burnt giant marshmallows.
Finish: Long finish. All of the above, but now also juicy notes of grapes and green apples. Pine wood scented earthy licorice.
Comment: Hell yeah!
Score 91/100
