Fary Lochan Nettle Smoke #01, 11 YO, 51.5%

A pure nettle smoke expression from Danish distillery Fary Lochan. This is one of the veteran distilleries of the Nordics, here demonstrated by an age statement of 11 years. This whisky was distilled 2013-09-28, matured in a 1st fill ex-bourbon barrel, and bottled 2024-10-10. Limited to 290 bottles.

The Fary Lochan Nettle Smoke #01 is available to buy in Denmark at DKK 995.

Nose: Honey and cold ashes - or maybe soot. Creamy vanilla, pineapple and mango. With time pencil shavings and nuts.

Taste: Full bodied and creamy. Honey - dirty honey with a bit of soot mixed in. Nutty - mainly almonds - we are almost into marzipan territory. Quite fruity as well - tropical fruits to be just a little bit more specific (hey, this is not an exact science!).

Finish: Medium to long finish. More of the fresh and juicy fruits and the gentle layer of sooty honey.

Comment: A sweet, sweet treat - almost too sweet.
