A fairly new release from Swedish distillery Smögen. This one has gone under the radar for me, but here it is. Matured in 2nd fill ex-PX hogshead and limited to 416 bottles.

Nose: Light notes of orchard fruits and red berries mixed with tempered smokiness - earthy and woodsy in character. Rather mild for a Smögen.

Taste: Full of body, filling the mind. Definitely influenced by the PX casks. Any mildness from the nose is quickly forgotten,. Soft, sweet, fluffy notes of raisins and figs perfectly intertwined with the green tinted wood smoke. Big, almost meaty in character. White pepper and soot in the background.

Finish: Medium to long finish. The spiciness comes more to the fore before it returns to the background, providing comforting warmth. Fruity still, but less sweet. My old favorite - the rowanberry - makes an appearance.

Comment: A tempered experience.
