Smögen 2011 10 YO “Dante”

Smögen 2011 10 YO “Dante”, 57.8 %

Matured in four 1st fill ex-Sauternes barrique casks. Bottled Spring 2021. This product is released in honor of Dante the Distillery Dog. I feel blessed to have met Dante on several occasions over the years. He is sorely missed.

Nose: Delicate sweetness meets deep and robust notes of wood smoke. There’s a light and sweet fruitiness here that perfectly matches and intimately dances with the rich pine wood smokiness.

Taste: Rich and full bodied. The same fruity sweetness from the nose is found here, as well as the spicy, big and rough-ish (in a charming way) wood smoke.

Finish: Medium long finish. More of the same, with added notes of vanilla and tinned pears. Drier, greener and softly astringent on the finish.

Comment: A worthy honoring of Dante - the finest of distillery dogs!
