Kilchoman Triskele Casks - Sweden Exclusive

Kilchoman Triskele Casks - Sweden Exclusive, NAS, 48.2%

Here’s a Kilchoman that many might not have had a chance to try. Matured in a combination of STR, ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks. Bottled 2023-06-09 and limited to 1260 bottles. Exclusive available in Sweden. Now, you might ask what the heck does “triskele” mean? Well, apparently triskele (also known as triskelion) refers to an ancient symbol featuring three interlocked spirals or legs radiating from a central point. I do believe they were inspired to choose that name given that this whisky has been matured in three different types of casks. There, mystery solved! You may now sleep in peace.

There appears to be country exclusive releases of Kilchoman Triskele also for France, Italy, the Netherlands, and Canada (Quebec).

Nose: I’d say this is a very typical Kilchoman on the nose. Meaty, peaty and fruity off the bat. Rich, complex and fun. With time also vanilla, roasted almonds, toasted oak, and black soil.

Taste: Full bodied. Peppery, peaty and actually quite sweet. The sweetness replaces or maybe even suppresses the meatiness - which was a surprise to me.

Finish: Medium long. Minty, or “pepperminty”, as well now. Reminds me of the traditional Swedish hard candy known as Polkagris.

Comment: Solid fun!
