It is always educational and an experience when you get to try old bottlings of young or youngish whisky. Here is a Glenglassaugh 12 YO bottled all the way back in 1991.
Nose: Caramel and dried fruits lead the way, followed by a second wave of nuts, vanilla and toasted oak. With time, floral notes, milk chocolate and slightly burnt bread crust add further depth.
Taste: Medium bodied. Oily and sweet, with dried fruits and a pinch of salt upfront. The fruitiness is juicy, relaxed and easy-going.
Finish: Medium long. Gentle spices mingle with the sweetness, while a distinctly nutty character develops, bringing memories of peanut butter. The mild maritime touch remains throughout.
Comment: Nutty sweetness with maritime charm.
