This Craigellachie comes to us from independent bottler Cane and Grain. Distilled 2015-03-04, matured in an undisclosed cask and then finished in a single ex-PX hogshead (cask #4260). Limited to 244 bottles.

I have to point out that this whisky has a very clear orange colour. The colour, the nose and the taste indicate to me that this might very well be a port cask and not a PX cask. But who really knows?

The Craigellachie PX Hogshead (Cane and Grain) goes on sale in Norway November 13 at NOK 1282 (19859701).

Nose: Light yet deeply comforting with notes of rhubarb and damp cellar earthiness. Dark, rich and fruity. A warm and embracing aroma.

Taste: Medium bodied. Rhubarb joins dried and stone fruits in a balanced, softly textured profile.

Finish: Medium to long. Consistent and charming, carrying the same fruity-earthy depth, though leaving a hint of mystery about its identity.

Comment: Dark comfort with quiet intrigue.
