BenRiach 2008 Oloroso Butt - Distillery Cask, 15 YO, 63.6%

A smoky BenRiach matured in a single ex-Oloroso sherry cask (cask #2037). Distilled 2008-03-18 and bottled 2023. Limited to 560 bottles. Exclusively available at the distillery.

Nose: Warm and comforting like a bear hug - a gentle, fluffy and caramel smelling bear that is. Dried fruits, almond paste, caramel pudding, and creamy vanilla. Covering this all is a blanket of sweet and warm wood smoke. The alcohol is very well integrated - not bite whatsoever. With time more chocolate - nougat and mocha.

Taste: Full bodied and rich. Peated caramel, “dirty” marzipan, dried fruits and dark chocolate. Deep of flavor but still light and fluffy in character.

Finish: Long finish. Soot and warm ashes, more dark chocolate now accompanied by cold-brewed coffee. Nuts and toasted oak in the end.

Comment: A dreamy dram!
