Writers' Tears Single Pot Still Chapter 10

Writers' Tears Single Pot Still Chapter 10, NAS, 46 %

The Writers' Tears core range from Walsh Whiskey is made up of eight different expressions.

Triple distilled single pot still Irish whiskey. Matured in ex-PX and ex-Marsala European oak casks. Sourced from undisclosed distillery, but most likely Midleton.

From the product page:

“Originally matured in bourbon barrels, the triple-distilled, single pot still whiskey, was then further matured in Pedro Ximenez Sherry casks from Spain and Florio Marsala Hogsheads from Sicily, before being cut at a juicy 46% ABV.”

Nose: Sweet and fruity nose. Mango and apricots and strawberries. A light touch of oak with time. Then vanilla, tinned pears and more tropical fruits.

Taste: Full bodied and fresh. Very fruity - with layers of both ripe orchard fruits and assorted dried fruits. I also find tropical fruits on subsequent sips - like kiwi and mango. Very fruity indeed.

Finish: Medium long finish. Lighter and more sugary sweet now. Vanilla, custard and Marsala wine.

Comment: Fruity and then some!
