Togouchi Premium Blended Japanese Whisky, NAS, 40%

This is a blended Japanese whisky from Sakurao Distillery, made in accordance with the (relatively) new Japanese whisky regulations. Previous incarnations of this product did not comply with these rules, so this is a new product as such. Matured in ex-bourbon casks and containing 10% malt whisky, and the rest is grain whisky made from barley - all made and matured in Japan. See their official product page for more details.

The Togouchi Premium Blended Japanese Whisky is available to buy in Norway at NOK 700 (1818201).

Nose: Mild and slightly shy. Honeyed cereal and hints of ripe orchard fruits. Opens with soft nuttiness, milk chocolate and a fleeting touch of strawberries.

Taste: Medium bodied. Sweet honey balanced by white pepper. Mild astringency with pencil shavings and unsalted peanuts adding structure.

Finish: Medium long. On the drier side with lingering pepper and gentle astringency. Honey now blends into caramel sauce.

Comment: Gentle honey with drying edge.
