Thy 2019 3 YO - Nordic Casks #2

Thy 2019 3 YO, 57.6 %

The third Nordic single malt from the series Nordic Casks #2, by Berry Bros & Rudd. This whisky is from Danish distillery Thy. Made up of two quarter casks (distilled 2017 and 2019), which were vatted together for a final year in a hogshead (cask #254). Limited to 235 bottles. This is a peated whisky, smoked with Beechwood (like German rauchbier).

Available from Berry Bros & Rudd at GBP 150.

Nose: Super smooth and silken nose. Toasted oak, fluffy smokiness, creamy vanilla and mild fruitiness. The beechwood smoke really comes through with time. So unusual and yet it works so well.

Taste: Rich and full bodied. Intense and rich sweetness. Herbal, smoky and dark. The smokiness really is that of a rauchbier. Sweet and caramel like smokiness.

Finish: Medium to long finish. Very sweet now, still smoky. Smoked strawberries.

Comment: Malty and rich rauchbier whisky!
