The Spice King Blended Malt is available in the UK at around GBP 40. It is expected to be available in Norway shortly.

Love the fact that they suggest specific pairings with different cheeses, meats, desserts and beers! Lots to explore.

Nose: Mildly oaky with a hint of wood smoke at first sniff. Not a whole lot going on, it would seem. But let’s snort once more, and see what happens. Citrus and salt slowly materialize. With time a mixture of mild spices and soft oakiness.

Taste: Medium to full bodied. Definitely more spicy on the palate. Full on attack from the pepper brigade, followed by hordes of wood smoke and soot, and supported by oaky archers on the ridges in the background. Eh..I do believe I’ve stretched that battlefield analogy more than far enough. Cry havoc and move on!

Finish: Medium long finish. Quite dry now. Soot, ashes and oakiness. Bitter notes of grapefruit. Hints of citrus in the background. Aside from pepper not a whole lot spices.

Comment: Not as spicy as the name would suggest, but quite OK.

Score 80/100
