..and here is my review of the third of the Wemyss Malts core range that was relaunced in 2020. The Peat Chimney Blended Malt is naturally the peat expression in the line-up.

Here is the official description of this blended malt:

Base Malts:
Approx. 58% vatting of various Speyside single malts.

Support Malts:
Approx. 4% support peated Highland Malt & approx. 4% support peated Highland Island Malt.

Signature Malts:
34% signature heavily peated Islay Malt.

The Peat Chimney Blended Malt is available from Wemyss Malts directly at around GBP 40. It will be available in Norway shortly, from what I hear.

Nose: Wood smoke and peat. Ripe apples, white pepper and vanilla.

Taste: Medium body and on the dry side. Soot, ashes and peat bog. Creamy vanilla and caramel sauce. Softly burnt note in the background.

Finish: Medium long finish. Medium peated and smoky - yes, both. Dark chocolate as well as soot and ashes now.

Comment: A decent introduction dram to the world of peated whisky.

Score 82/100
