Stauning Rye Whisky

Stauning Rye Whisky, 3 YO, 48 %

It is about time I revisited Danish distillery Stauning. They have been producing whisky for quite a few years now, and they have some new products available. First off, their classic rye whisky. Made using locally grown rye and barley, all floor malted at the distillery. Matured for 3-4 years in new American oak barrels. See more details on the official product page.

Nose: Distinct rye bread melds with hints of milk chocolate, complemented by a touch of creamy vanilla. A cool undertone pairs with an inviting spicy kick.

Palate: Robust and peppery. The palate finds nuances of soot, pepper notes, toasted oak, and a subtle hint of dark chocolate.

Finish: Medium in length, this finish leans towards the dry side, accentuating its peppery nature. There's a zesty undertone, making it lively. The rye bread note lingers consistently.

Comment: Stauning delivers a straightforward, yet intriguing experience.
