SMWS 48.142 Hipflasks not hipsters!, 9 YO, 58.2 %

An independent bottling of Balmenach single malt from the Speyside region. The bottler is of course the Scotch Malt Whisky Society (SMWS).

This whisky was distilled 2012-11-12, and matured in a 1st fill ex-bourbon barrel. The resulting outturn was 222 bottles.

Nose: Light fruitiness - ripe apples and pears, as well as hints of pineapple and banana. Vanilla, beeswax and runny honey.

Taste: Medium body. Soft and fruity at first. Rather mild in fact. Tropical fruits and marshmallows. Then mild spices and green herbs.

Finish: Medium long finish. More herbs, and tomato vine. Drier now.

Comment: Green and fruity!
