This special Octomore was released at the Feis Ile 2019 festival. I was there, and managed to get two bottles. All 2000 bottles were sold out within an hour or so. It was crowded!

The Octomore Event Horizon - Feis Ile 2019 was distilled in 2007, and matured in a combination of Oloroso and PX sherry butts. At 12 years old this is one of the oldest Octomores released so far.

Nose: Earthy and down to earth. Dark chocolate, cold coffee, cocoa nibs and dusty cinnamon. Then aromatic notes of dried fruits and a generous glass of rich, old PX sherry. I can happily bury my nose in the glass. This is soo balanced and well integrated. It just keeps getting better and better in the glass.

Taste: It is of course more than full bodied and rich. Intensely fruity, as was the insanely good Octomore OBA Concept, but this one has darker and deeper fruity notes. Dates, figs and raisins. Cinnamon, vanilla, demerara sugar, dark fudge. Peppery smoke and peat brings it all together.

Finish: Long finish. Even more raisins now, soaked in sublime PX sherry. Dark chocolate with a succulent filling of raspberry and strawberry jam. The smoke is by now so thick you can cut it with a knife and serve it as cake.

Comment: Yummy! I. Want. More!

Score 94/100
