A very old cognac is on the testbench today. This cognac from Normandin-Mercier was brought to Norway by Mr Cognac himself, Jon Bertelsen.

The Normandin-Mercier Grande Champagne Cask #2502 was distilled in 1970, matured in a single cask (cask #2502) and bottled in 2020. This cognac is bottled Brut de Fût (cask strength for us whisky nerds).

The Normandin-Mercier Grande Champagne Cask #2502 is available for sale in Norway at NOK 3399 (12436201).

Nose: Warm and welcoming. Leather, caramel, hint of unlit cigar. Soft fruitiness. With time orchard fruits. Dust and mild oakiness. Hints of green herbs.

Taste: Medium to full body. More green herbs on the palate - dried herbs, not really floral.

Finish: Long finish. Dried fruits, vanilla, caramel and eucalyptus chewing gum. More green and less sweet in the end.

Comment: Such a delightful experience.
