I purchased this distillery only release at the Nikka Yoichi Distillery in 2015. This is a single cask bottling (cask #400686).

Nose: Light and fruity. Creamy vanilla mixed with refined and dusty notes of oak. Wood shop. Retro candy store around the corner. Hints of a mechanic’s dirty overalls in the background.

Taste: Sumo like body. Boisterous character. Very lively for a 20 year old. Light fruitiness dances on the tongue. Light spices join in the celebration. Swirls of milk chocolate and caramel enter the mix. Peppery dark chocolate with a sprinkling of soot.

Finish: Long finish. Light waves of fruits, spices and sweet candy alternate, combine, separate and rejoin. Honey and a soft herbal touch towards the end. The Yoichi “dirtiness” waves from behind the curtain, wearing a sugary sweet smile.
