This is the latest addition to the Beaufort Wind Scale Series from Myken Distillery, Norway. This series of windy whiskies is part of the core range selection from the distillery. The Myken Still has a planned annual outturn of 300 bottles (70 cl). The whisky is 3 to 5 years old, made using a combination of Norwegian and German malted barley. Matured in 40-50L 1st fill ex-sherry casks.

Nose: Deeply sweet and fruity. Raisins, floral honey, earthy peppermint, demerara sugar and caramel sauce. Red berries and honey-glazed peanuts add further richness. With time, the red berry notes intensify, joined by ripe rowan berries. A very rich and rewarding nose.

Taste: Full bodied. More of the rich red berry symphony from the nose, now accompanied by distinct peppery notes and a dryish oakiness.

Finish: Medium long. The tempered oakiness persists, with white pepper, cinnamon, nutmeg and earthy vanilla. Hints of green herbs, dark chocolate and dried fruits emerge towards the end.

Comment: Rich berries with spicy oak.
