Last Straw Whisky in the 6 - cask #1, 3 YO, 56 %

This image is of a different product than the one reviewed.

My first ever review of a whisky from Last Straw Whisky, located in Ontario, Canada. This release is Cask 1 for the Edmonton Scotch Club.

The distillery was incorporated in 2013, and the distillery opened its doors in August 2016. They sell gin, rum, moonshine and - of course - whisky. The whisky is what they call “big, bold, single grain whiskies”, which includes single malt, corn whisky, rice whisky and rye whisky. Their first whisky product was released in late 2019.

Nose: Evokes the essence of autumn with scents of wet leaves and a touch of earthiness. Complemented by dried fruits, cinnamon, and a subtle nuttiness, it truly captures the season in a glass.

Taste: Full-bodied and rich, it presents rowan berries drenched in a blend of maple syrup and fine rye whiskey, enhancing the flavors with toasted oak. The texture is gritty and chewy, adding a uniquely appealing layer.

Finish: The medium-long finish continues the theme, striking a balance between dry and juicy elements, maintaining the robust character.

Comment: MAGA - Making Autumn Great Again!

Score 87/100

PS! Massive thank you to Even S. for the sample!

Sláinte!
