Laphroaig 10 YO Sherry Oak
Laphroaig 10 YO Sherry Oak, 48 %
It has been quite a while since I last reviewed a single malt from Laphroaig. Time to take a closer look at the Laphroaig 10 YO Sherry Oak then. The subtitle of this core range product from Laphroaig Distillery is “Sherry Oak Cask Finish”, so not fully matured in ex-sherry casks then.
Lukt Aroma av søtlig sherry, tulipaner, røyk, bacon og honning.
Smak Preg av mørk sjokolade, lønnesirup, torv, bacon, krydder og eik.
The Laphroaig 10 YO Sherry Oak is available in Norway at NOK 1170 (20172301).
Nose: Malty, peaty and smoky with gentle toasted oak and pencil shavings. A medicinal edge is balanced by sweet vanilla, dark chocolate and cold-brewed coffee.
Taste: Full bodied and warming. Salty peat leads into dried fruits and dark caramel, lifted by hints of citrus and gentle spice.
Finish: Medium to long. The peat gradually shifts into richer wood smoke, evoking smoked bacon and a beachside barbecue. Deep caramel sweetness and dark chocolate linger to the end.
Comment: Coastal smoke with rich sweetness.
