Oh, it’s been quite a while since last I tried a Kavalan Solist from ex-bourbon. This particular one was distilled 2014-12-31, matured in a single ex-bourbon cask (cask #B141231118A), and bottled 2021-05-13. Limited to 179 bottles.

Nose: Vanilla and ripe apples set a fresh, clean tone. Subtle hints of unsalted peanuts and orange zest appear with time, while tropical fruits verge on overripe richness.

Taste: Full bodied and opulent. Bursting with orchard and candied fruits, creamy vanilla and golden honey. A touch of cut grass adds balance to the layered sweetness.

Finish: Medium to long. Fruity and vanilla-led, tapering into a slightly drier close with toasted oak and a cooling trace of mint.

Comment: Fruity richness.
