This is the first release in Jura’s new Perspectives range, which aims to highlight elements of their distillery character. This is the description as given on their product page:

“Perspective No. 01 is a snapshot of Jura’s island spirit. Brought together through a combination of ex-Bourbon barrels and sherry casks, it highlights core elements of the distillery character, featuring notes of stone fruit, assorted dried citrus, wildflower honey and toasted walnut.

Matured in American White ex-bourbon barrels and finished in seasoned Oloroso sherry casks from Jerez, Spain.”

The Jura Perspective No. 01 will be available to buy in Norway very soon at NOK 1200 (19699601).

Nose: A fresh and fruity greeting. I pick up notes of grapefruit, pineapple and orange zest. Hints of malt and vanilla. With time a little nutty with added notes of ginger and salty seawater.

Taste: Medium to full bodied. The initial wave is owned by white pepper, ginger, orange zest and a pinch of salt. Then hints of runny honey and nuts.

Finish: Medium long finish. It remains fruity and briny throughout. Oranges, nuts, milk chocolate and dried ginger.

Comment: This is highly charming.
