Islay Storm

Islay Storm, NAS, 40 %

islay-storm.jpg

This Islay single malt is distilled at an undisclosed distillery, and the product is bottled by independent bottler C. C. James & Sons Ltd, which again is owned by the Vintage Malt Whisky Company known for The Ileach, Cooper’s Choice etc.

From what I have found online, which isn’t much, this whisky has been matured in bourbon casks. The official product page is skimpy on the details.

The Islay Storm is for sale in Norway at NOK 579 (7686301), and in the UK at around GBP 30

Nose: Wood smoke, ashes and mustard seeds. A pinch of salt. Citrus in the back.

Taste: Medium body. Creamy and smoky coffee beans. Chewy. Citrus in the background, hiding behind all the chocolate and coffee notes. Creamy vanilla with white pepper..

Finish: Medium long finish. Frappuccino with a dusting of cinnamon and nutmeg. Peaty and smoky all the way. Dry in style and a tad bitter-ish in the end.

Comment: Easy drinking and enough flavor to make it worth your while.

Score 84/100
