Feddie Distillery Edition
Feddie Distillery Edition, 4 YO, 57.2%
This is the second product released from Feddie Ocean Distillery, following the inaugural release of their one core product so far - The Feddie Single Malt Whisky (see review). This is a higher ABV variant of the first release - again assuming it is bottled at batch strength. I do not have any firm confirmation, but I assume the cask mix is similar - which means predominantly 1st fill and refill ex-bourbon casks, with some added ex-Oloroso sherry casks.
The Feddie Distillery Edition is available to buy in Norway at NOK 1090 (19580601).
Nose: Ooh, this is a charmer. Light swirls of vanilla and dried fruits reveal the maturation in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks. Rich malty notes with a mildly spicy base line - black pepper and cinnamon stand out. With time also lighter notes of orchard fruits and red berries. Is that also a whiff of citrus I detect?
Taste: Full bodied. Harmonious balance between the spiciness, fruitiness and sweetness. Spiced caramel sauce, marzipan and tropical fruits. Toasted oak and cinnamon.
Finish: Medium long finish. This is mature beyond its age. More peppery now. The tropical fruits morph into dried fruits. Apple flavored chewing gum in the end.
Comment: Pour another, why don’t you?!
