Faer Isles New Make Single Malt

Faer Isles New Make Single Malt, unaged, 59.5 %

The very first single malt release from Faer Isles Distillery on the Faroe Islands. Not a whisky mind you, but new make. This bottling was only made available to members of Faer Isles Founders’ Club.

Nose: Clean, fresh and fairly fruity. This is a very approachable new make spirit. Rich maltiness. With time hints of ginger and ripe apples. Hints of summer flowers.

Taste: Full bodied and packing a fair bit of heat. It is again highly approachable and drinkable. Rich maltiness still. Freshly ground black peppercorns.

Finish: Short finish, but that is rather expected, right? More of the same, which again is to be expected.

Comment: A very promising start by Faer Isles Distillery. Now let it mature and baffle us in a few years!

Score 80/100

PS! My little bottle came with an even smaller piece of fresh oak to be inserted into the bottle to “simulate” a bit of aging. I’ve now popped in the oak bit and I’ll get back to this in a few weeks.
