Fary Lochan Bourbon Cask Batch #01

Fary Lochan Bourbon Cask Batch #01, 11 YO, 53.1 %

This is the oldest Fary Lochan release I’ve ever tasted, and at the time when it was released I believe it was also the oldest release from this Danish Distillery. Limited to 273 bottles, this single cask release was distilled 2010-12-31, and bottled 2022-02-01. Fully matured in a single 1st fill bourbon cask, and released for sale 2022-03-05. Alas it is now sold out.

Nose: Clean, fresh and elegant. Ripe and juicy orchard fruits. Creamy vanilla. Mango and apricots in wooden crates made from freshly cut oak just minutes ago. With time more tropical notes as well as unsalted peanuts.

Taste: Full bodied and rich. Chopped, assorted tropical fruits served with a generous dollop of whipped cream and custard.

Finish: Medium to long finish. A bit drier now - there’s a dusting of pencil shavings and a sprinkling of white pepper. Fizzy ginger playing in the background. Pepper mint on the finishing line.

Comment: A testament to the fine distillate of Fary Lochan and how well suited it is to high quality ex-bourbon casks.
