En öl- och whiskymässa 2024; more fun in Gothenburg (Day 2)

OK, I survived Day 2 of the fair as well. Hurrah! See my report from Day 1. While I spent most of Day 1 catching up with friends and acquaintances, as well as getting a feel for what was on offer, it was time to dive deeper on Day 2. It got pretty deep!

I started Day 2 with this majestic dra, The GlenDronach 29 YO Grandeur Batch 12.

Serving the GlenDronach and other fine spirits was this gentleman (yeah, on the left); Henrik Aflodal. Always great to catch up with him!

Yorkshire single malt whisky is all new to me. I got a great introduction to the Filey Bay range from Joe.

Kaiyo is Japanese whisky matured in Mizunara oak. No official word on who distilled the whisky itself, but it is “teaspooned”, so as such not technically a single malt. Rumour has it that it is (mainly) produced by Nikka.

A wonderful, undercover Glenfarclas, courtesy of North Star and, in this case, Svenska Eldvatten. Yum, yum!

A brand new brand from Smögen Whisky. The Askeim is fully focused on barley - in this first release Golden Promise. Matured in 1st fill ex-bourbon.

Here he is, the whisky romantic himself, Pär Caldenby of Smögen Whisky.

Magical Mezcal! This is so funky, so tasty, so complex, so downright wonderful. Try it! Siete Misterios!

I got the last pour of the Michter’s 20 YO! This is bourbon royalty. I can still taste it.

The Michter’s Dynamic Duo - John and Søren. What a pair!

They even had great food at the fair this year. Holy Smoke served a darn fine pulled pork burger.

Sláinte! Hejdå, Göteborg!
