Chichibu Paris Edition 2019

Chichibu Paris Edition 2019, ~6 YO, 50.5 %

This is a bottling exclusive to La Maison du Whisky in France. It is a follow-up from the Chichibu Paris Edition 2018 (see my review). This time around the vatting consists of 7 casks, as opposed to the 5 casks in 2018. We saw the use ow wine casks and hogsheads in 2018, and this time 1 Mizunara cask and 6 bourbon barrels. Also the ABV is significantly lower this time, and the age is a bit higher. This small batch release is limited to 1757 bottles.

A few bottles of the Chichibu Paris Edition 2019 will be released for sale in Norway June 4 at NOK 2933 (1970501).

Nose: Soft notes of oak and caramel. Mild spices and hints of incense. Honey glazed apples. Tropical fruits like pineapple and coconut. Fudge, toffee and leather with time.

Taste: Powerful! Candied apples, pears and pineapple. Caramel and vanilla. Sandalwood and incense.

Finish: Medium to long finish. Delicate and restrained. This is deep and finely tuned. Sweetness, fruitness and creaminess all coming together.

Comment: Hand me a bottle. Now. Make that two. Three. All of it!!!
