Buran Ex-Bourbon No.1, 3 YO, 46.7%

The third release from Buran Norsk Whisky AS. I believe this is a single cask release. Filled into a 200L ex-bourbon cask on 2021-10-20, and bottled 2025-09-05.

The Buran Ex-Bourbon No.1 is available in Norway at NOK 891 (20107902).

Nose: Gentle wood smoke and vanilla greet the nose. Soft and composed with orchard fruits and rich malt. Gradually revealing wet oak planks, mild bitterness from oak, pencil shavings and sawdust, before a faint hint of citrus appears.

Taste: Medium bodied. Creamy vanilla meets oaky spice and a mild alcohol sting. Soot and black wood smoke follow, the smokiness well integrated.

Finish: Medium to short. White pepper, simple syrup and caramel emerge while the dry, sooty note lingers. Still creamy in texture, ending with cacao butter.

Comment: Creamy smoke with youthful bite.
