I somehow missed the Bruichladdich Black Art 06.1 when it was released, but I will make up for it now.

This whisky was distilled in 1990 and bottled 2018-04-12. It is a “limited” release of 18000 bottles, and you can still get your hands on a bottle of it in Norway at NOK 2750 (10635401).

As always with the Black Art series, nothing is revealed on the composition of casks used, but expect there to be a few different ones in the mix, and some of these will most likely be wine casks.

Nose: Frappuccino, chocolate ice cream. Over ripe banana. Assorted red berries and even red wine. Dusty and elegant. With time ginger, vanilla, cocoa powder and nuts. Raisins thoroughly soaked in succulent sherry.

Taste:  Creamy texture and full bodied. Lovely notes of chocolate and wine. Restrained oakiness. Mixed fruits - ripe and dried. Raisins, nuts and hints of blueberry jam.

Finish: Long finish. It remains deliciously creamy throughout. Mild oakiness. Fizzy ginger and notes of green herbs in the end. Green mint.

Comment: A decadent evening on the couch. I can most certainly live with that!

Score 89/100

Thanks for the sample, Knut K.!
