Brennevinsgrova Tørv & Sherry

Brennevinsgrova Tørv & Sherry, NAS, 46%

This is, as far as I know, the third release from Brennevinsgrova. A peated whisky matured in a combination of ex-Oloroso sherry and ex-PX sherry casks. Released late 2024, and limited to 800 bottles (all 20 cl).

The Brennevinsgrova Tørv & Sherry is available to buy in Norway at NOK 307 (18755404).

Nose: A warmly spiced opening with honey and toasted oak, complemented by faint wisps of distant wood fires. White pepper adds a subtle kick, while deeper notes of creamy, slightly earthy chocolate mousse emerge with time.

Taste: Medium bodied and richly malty. Raisins and soft wood smoke lead the charge, followed by the smooth sweetness of vanilla milkshake. Fizzy ginger adds a playful edge.

Finish: Medium long. The vanilla milkshake theme continues, now joined by ripe strawberries and a dusting of dark chocolate flakes with a smoky twist. Smooth and subtly layered.

Comment: Quietly complex and thoroughly enjoyable.
