The Cognac house ABK6 launched their very first single malt whisky earlier this year. Here is a single cask, cask strength expression (mainly?) for the Norwegian market.

They distill their single malt whisky in the same alembics as they use for Cognac production. This whisky has been matured for four years in ex-bourbon casks,

The ABK6 Cask Strength Single Malt will be available in Norway in a few days at NOK 800 (20890401).

Nose: Soft and delicate notes of orchard fruits, with a mild maltiness underneath. Vanilla develops with time, joined by hints of tropical fruits.

Taste: Full bodied. Fruity and gently spicy, with distinctive notes of rowan berries adding a slightly tart edge.

Finish: Medium long. Fruity and fresh, with lingering hints of rowan berries. Pleasant enough, although somewhat restrained.

Comment: Pleasant, fruity and quietly understated.
