Another release from independent bottler Dràm Mòr Group today. The Aberlour 2012 7 YO was obviously distilled in 2012. It was matured in a bourbon hogshead for seven and a half years, and then finished for four months in a Portuguese red wine Madeira barrique (cask #800914). The total outturn was 328 bottles.

You can find bottles online at around € 89.

Nose: Ripe apples and rich malt. Wet leaves and hints of rhubarb. With time also vanilla, more apples and soft oakiness.

Taste: Rich and full bodied. Not all that sweet at first, more fruity with a dry-ish spiciness to it. White pepper, ginger, and bitter-ish sawdust.

Finish: Medium long finish. Creamy and rich. Vanilla, white pepper and a pinch of salt. Fizzy ginger. Somewhat dark and hard to get a hold of. A touch green and oaky bitter in the end.

Comment: A rich, young Aberlour.

Score 85/100
