This is the second of two recent Glenrothes expressions released by independent bottler Dràm Mòr Group.

The Glenrothes 9 YO Cask #2851 (Dràm Mòr) has been matured for more than 8 years in a refill bourbon cask and then it received a four month long finish in a 1st fill Moscatel wine barrique (cask #2851). The total outturn was 340 bottles.

You can buy the Glenrothes 9 YO Cask #2851 (Dràm Mòr) at around € 72 online.

Nose: Fruity and a bit sweeter than the cask #2850. Deeper and richer in character, and at the same time the wine cask finish has left us with soft and delicate top notes of sweet wine. With time vanilla and again a soft oaky bitterness as on the sister cask. Add even more time and the nose is becoming rather nice - ever more fruity, sweet and harmonious.

Taste: Full bodied and creamy in character. Orchard fruits and again a noticeable oakiness - like the sister cask. This dram is again more balanced though. The oakiness does not dominate. White pepper, ginger and honey.

Finish: Medium long finish. Pepper, ginger and nuts. Creamy vanilla and hints of a herbal honey mixture.

Comment: A fine dram, relatively complex for its age, and with lots to offer.

Score 87/100
