Writers' Tears Double Oak

Writers' Tears Double Oak, NAS, 46 %

I am testing an Irish whiskey today. The Writers’ Tears Double Oak from Walsh Whiskey. You can find the official product page here.

This expression is a marriage of aged single pot still and single malt Irish whiskey, aged and matured in American oak bourbon barrels from Kentucky and French oak cognac casks from the Allary Cooperage in France.

You can buy the Writers' Tears Double Oak in the UK at GBP 45 and in Ireland € 55.

Nose: Soft and approachable. Vanilla, nuts and breadcrumbs. Cinnamon and hints of citrus.

Taste: Medium to rich body. Peppery fire at first, then medium sweet oakiness and fruitiness. Dry-ish.

Finish: Medium long finish. Chocolate, oaky spices and a a green touch. Keeps getting more and more dry.

Comment: Easy drinking with a spicy touch.

Score 84/100
