Time for another golden oldie from Buffalo Trace Distillery. The William Larue Weller Barrel Proof 1998 / 2011 is a bourbon as has of course been matured in charred new white American oak barrels.

Nose: Honey cake, vanilla, white pepper and the faintest hint of perfume. Toasted oak and a mild green touch with time.

Taste: Very rich and most assuredly full bodied. Maple syrup of the highest caliber. Caramel sauce. Fresh vanilla. Ripe, red apples.

Finish: Medium to long finish. More ripe apples. Demerara sugar and maple syrup. Cut grass. Burnt caramel - in a very good way.

Comment: If only I had a full bottle..
