The West Cork Distillers (WCD) was formed back in 2003. Distilling was done in a small back room in one of the founders' house until 2014, when they moved the operation to Market Street in Skibbereen. In 2020 they opened their current distillery at Marsh Road, Skibbereen. Production capacity is now at 4.5 million lpa.

From their website: “A delicate blend of grain (75%) and malt (25%) whiskey matured in bourbon casks”

The West Cork Bourbon Cask Blended Irish Whiskey is available in Norway at NOK 420 (8330001). This product can also be bought straight from the distillery here.

Nose: Soft and approachable. Hints of citrus. Vanilla and mild spices. It walks softly and carries no gun.

Taste: Medium to light body. Vanilla, honey and white pepper.

Finish: Relatively short finish. More pepper. The citrus is back as well as ripe apples and pears.

Comment: Fairly simple but easy drinking.
