Vardberg Sirius

Vardberg Sirius, NAS, 48%

This is the sixth single malt whisky released by Berentsens Distillery, Norway. This whisky has been matured in a combination of several 1st fill ex-Oloroso sherry casks and one 1st fill ex-PX sherry cask. This is a limited release of 1950 bottles.

The Vardberg Sirius will be available to buy very shortly in Norway at NOK 895 (20313302).

Nose: Cool and fresh like a lush orchard after heavy summer rain. Dried fruits mingle with ripe tropical notes, banana foremost. Gradually deeper, earthy tones appear—dusty vanilla, cinnamon, honey and a curious hint of grape juice.

Taste: Full bodied and sugary sweet with a sharp edge. Dried fruits and “dirty” sugar cubes meet polka-dot candy, vanilla and cool mint. White pepper and cinnamon provide lift, while dark chocolate and a touch of soot add contrast.

Finish: Medium long. Sweet fruit and cooling mint persist in a playful, enjoyable style. Milk chocolate, camphor, mint and cut grass close things out.

Comment: Playful sweetness with cool edge.
