Tomatin Cask Strength

Tomatin Cask Strength, NAS, 57,5 %

Tomatin Cask StrengthHere is a rather new addition to the Tomatin core range. The Tomatin Cask Strength was introduced in 2015. It has been matured in a combination of bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks, and it is a no age statement (NAS) whisky.

The Tomatin Cask Strength is currently not for sale in Norway or Sweden, but you can buy it online at around GBP 50.

Nose: Saw mill on a rainy day, glass of sherry left out in the rain, also a scattering of old school hard candy (malt drops, camphor drops, fruit drops) around said glass of sherry. It's all a bit bleak, well ... apart from the noticeable alcohol sting, that is.

Taste: Watery and thin mouthfeel. How is that even possible at cask strength? Again with the wet planks, young notes and in general rather bleak appearance.

Finish: Medium to short finish, ... no make that short finish. It dies off very quickly. Caramel flavoured water with a hint of menthol, tiger balm and cut grass in the end.

Comments: This was a bit strange, and not quite to my taste. Comes across as very young, and not very balanced.
