St. Magdalene 1982 26 YO Douglas Laing Old Malt Cask, 50 %

St. Magdalene 1982 26 YO Douglas Laing Old Malt CaskWell, as I wrote last Saturday I have tasted three St. Magdalenes, and this is my review of the last one. All of them are from 1982, and all of them are from Independent Bottlers.

Todays St. Magdalene is from the Old Malt Cask series from Douglas Laing. It is distilled in September 1982 and bottled in October 2008.

Nose (22/25): Very fruity, some citrus and quite light. A fresh summer whisky smell.

Taste (22/25): Still very fruity and still very light. In addition there is some caramel, salt and orange. Still a fresh summer whisky.

Finish (21/25): The orange was dominating in the finish. Actually I think it was orange peel. Some bitterness in the end together with salt and caramel.

Balance (22/25): This was a very fresh whisky! A nice balance from nose to finish.

Score 87/100

I would definitely recommend a taste of this whisky! Although it is not the best St. Magdalene I have tasted.
